1 to 1
The 1:1 process for a manager is a crucial component of effective team management. It typically involves setting up regular, private meetings with each team member, that we plan on a monthly basis. These meetings serve multiple purposes: they allow providing personalized feedback, understand each team member’s needs, set and review short-term and long-term goals, address any concerns or challenges, and foster a strong team relationship.
Effective 1:1 meetings are characterized by open communication, active listening, and mutual respect. Preparing an agenda in advance, focusing on the employee’s needs, and following up on discussed items are best practices for making these meetings productive.
We use at Murena the following 1:1 template:
Date and Attendees, Objectives of the Meeting, Discussion Points, Action Items (with responsible persons and deadlines), Feedback (both ways), and Follow-up Items for the next meeting.
